Rear Admiral Md Ruhul Minhaz joined the Bangladesh Navy on 01 January 1990 and was commissioned on 01 July 1992 in the Electrical Branch. He is presently serving as the Area Superintendent Dockyard (ASD) in Chattogram.

Rear Admiral Minhaz holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Over his distinguished career, he has undertaken numerous professional and staff courses at home and abroad. Notably, he completed the Long Electrical Course from the Electrical School of BNS SHAHEED MOAZZAM, the Missile Officer Course at the FAC School, the Navy Missile Maintenance Course in China, and the Gunnery Fire Control Simulator Course in Italy. He is also a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur, and the National Defence College (NDC), Mirpur.

Throughout his career, Rear Admiral Minhaz has held a wide variety of appointments spanning naval ships, headquarters, dockyards, research centers, and training institutes. He was the pioneer Director of the Centre for Naval Research and Development (CNRD), where he played a key role in designing new propulsion control systems for several Bangladesh Navy ships. He was the proud member of the project team for BN Corvette Project (2nd Batch) in China where two state-of-the-art Corvettes (BNS SANGRAM and PROTTASHA) were built and brought to Bangladesh in the year 2019. His career includes multiple tenures with the ASD organization - as Commander, Captain, Commodore, and now Rear Admiral. He has also served twice as Director of Naval Weapon & Electrical Engineering (DNW&EE) at Naval Headquarters, and as an Instructor at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST).

Renowned for his professionalism, integrity, and forward-thinking leadership, Rear Admiral Minhaz has made significant contributions to advancing naval technology, research, and operational capability. His service as a UN Military Observer in Sudan (2010-2011) highlights his active role in promoting international peace and cooperation under the banner of the United Nations Blue Helmets.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to naval research and development, he has been awarded the Oshamanno Sheba Padak (OSP) by the Government of Bangladesh, along with a Commendation from the Chief of Naval Staff. These honors stand as a testament to his unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the nation.

A passionate traveler, Rear Admiral Minhaz has visited numerous countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is known for his humility, intellectual curiosity, and passion for innovation and problem-solving. His thoughtful leadership and commitment to excellence continue to inspire those who serve alongside him.

Rear Admiral Minhaz is happily married and blessed with one son and two daughters. He has been serving in his current appointment since 03 September 2024.
